Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Thomas the Train Tough Trike (Toy) I bought this for my 20 month old grandson. It is a little big for him (a stretch to the pedals) but it is made for 2 and up, so that was expected. It assembles easily and seems pretty durable. I am very happy, well worth the price!!

= Fun: = Educational: Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Thomas the Train Tough Trike (Toy) We got this for our son when he was two months shy of his 3rd birthday. Because it is plastic, it is very lightweight and fairly compact and we therefore let him use it inside the house (we have hardwood floors), which is great in a very bad winter like we've had.
His aunt had bought a regular metal tricycle for him and we haven't been able to use it yet. It's too big for him - he still can't reach the pedals well, it's heavy to tote around and tough for him to get moving on. So this trike is more like a Big Wheel, easier to get on and go go go!
We're teaching him how to use the pedals and how to steer, and since this is just the right size, we're doing well. He still excitedly calls it his "Thomas bike" and we can see the same thrill that he had when he first saw the box arrive and went crazy (it shipped in its own box). He loves filling up the seat compartment with Thomas trains and taking them for a ride.

While the manufacturer recommends for kids 24 months and older, my 2 year old son who is quite tall (3 feet, 95th percentile) can just reach the pedals and it will be few more inches of growth before he can pedal the trike.
